NDIS Transport: How Its Funding Works
Jun 18, 2024 | ABLEize
Easy access to the community, education, employment, and other necessary activities is essential. However, it may be challenging for individuals who aren’t able to use public transport because of their disability. That is why the NDIS transport funding exists.
But First, What Is NDIS Transport Funding?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) offers transport funding to support disabled individuals and help them access essential services, attend appointments, and participate in their communities.
Who Are Eligible for the Funding?
Participants who meet the specific eligibility criteria, such as having a permanent and significant disability, can receive transport funding. However, the agency assesses whether their condition affects their ability to travel independently.
As such, the NDIS transport funding is based on an individual’s needs and circumstances.
Three Levels of Funding for Transport Support
- Level 1: For participants who are not working, studying, or attending day programs, covering up to $1,606 annually.
- Level 2: For those participating in part-time employment, study, or similar activities, covering up to $2,472 annually.
- Level 3: For participants with a full-time job or study, providing up to $3,456 annually
These levels ensure participants receive appropriate support to manage their transport needs effectively.
